5 cents back in the early 1900's when five and dime stores actually sold items for a nickel or dime, equates to around $1.05-$1.25 after inflation today.
Even in just the past 10 years, a dollar has gone up to $1.24...
Everybody should step back and figure out whether their salary/hourly wage even keeps ahead of inflation... (around 2-4%/yr)
