It's fun playing with different colors of "white" light. All of the tungsten light pollution from street lamps, cars, buildings, etc makes a cloudy night sky in the city look pink or orangish. This is amplified when we have a fresh covering of snow to reflect even more of the light back up to the clouds.
The ice block seen here is one of the many massive junks pushed up over the banks of the Raccoon river due to the rapid thawing & freezing a couple weeks ago that caused incredible ice jams along the river. I back-lit the ice with an external flash, and due to the white balance setting on my camera & difference in color temerature between tungsten and flash (which is daylight balanced), we get blue ice against an orangy sky!

Street lamps are typically low-pressure sodium vapor (yellow).
You should add the white balance setting to the EXIF data shown. :)

Oh, and the background gradient you're using isn't wide enough for your upgraded width. At least not at work...

Maybe the Colin should make sure the background image isn't cached by his browser, before he starts making accusations :P

I contend you just updated the image and did a `touch -m --date='Saturday, January 03, 2009 12:01:41 AM' big_gradient.png` just to prove me wrong.
