It seems that most of the time in portraiture, we resort to all sorts of little tricks to smooth out a persons skin, often going too far and turning their epidermis into something with more resemblance to plastic than flesh.
But, sometimes it work to go the opposite way, and accentuate the texture, freckles and marks. Really hafta have pretty much perfect skin to pull this off, but it really shows off the detail & sharpness of the photo, even at this small size.
