That giant green umbrella in Nollen Plaza (across from the Civic Center) is actually "Crusoe Umbrella"
It was commissioned September 1978 by the Civic Center, with a matching grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and donations from local sources. The 37'x27'x56' steel umbrella was sculpted by Cleas Oldenburg and Coosje van Brugeen and installed over Thanksgiving, 1979.
